About Kathi

Kathi Fennelly is a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. In private practice in San Luis Obispo County, CA, she sees patients from throughout the state, and is currently accepting new patients.

Originally from Newport Beach, CA, Kathi was a flight attendant with TWA and busy raising her three children when she decided to follow her heart into nursing. After graduating from nursing school in 1990, she worked for many years as a neurosurgical nurse at the University of California, San Francisco. Once her children were grown, she returned to school and became a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in 1994.

After a short stint on staff at Tripler Army Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, Kathi moved to Ridgecrest, California where she worked in community health and private practice for 12 years. In 2005, missing the coastal climate, she moved to San Luis Obispo, California. She developed a strong patient following while at Women's Healthcare Specialists and then at Creating Harmony Women's Healthcare in San Luis Obispo.

In April 2009, Kathi took a 3 month sabbatical in Palm Desert to gain more in depth training and experience in her area of specialization - Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. She returned to San Luis Obispo in July 2009 and reopened her private practice, Kathi Fennelly NP Wellness, dedicated to helping people feel better and balance their hormones naturally. We are happy to welcome her expertise to Middle Path Medicine.

Known for her focused expertise, competence and deeply caring and compassionate style, Kathi continually updates her knowledge on health issues and the latest treatment protocols. For more information about her services or to book an appointment, please call us at 805-481-3442.

My Mission
To help women and men of all ages to feel better in the shortest time possible by offering the highest level of compassionate care, careful diagnostics and effective treatment in a "safe" atmosphere where you can openly and honestly disclose all your symptoms, and know that you are being heard.

My Goal
To help you get - and stay - healthy and aging gracefully with:
  • Balanced hormones
  • Stress management
  • An ideal weight achieved by balancing good nutrition and exercise.

I've been treating patients since 1990. My passion for bioidentical (non synthetic) hormone therapy began in 2002 after I studied the drawbacks of synthetic hormones in relation to many female-related diseases. As a health care provider, I wanted to offer my patients a safer, more natural method. Bioidenticals were the answer - and became my specialty.

I've also learned much about the practical benefits of balanced hormones from my patients over the years, and have seen incredible transformations in health and well-being.

My Approach
Knowledge + Empowerment = Achieving your vision of health.

I know it's frustrating to be "talked down to," or not taken seriously - especially when you don't feel well. I treat you as a whole person - a capable, multi-faceted human being with input and opinions - not simply as a physical illness or checklist of symptoms.

I use a respectful "Whole-Body" approach, taking all aspects of your mental, physical and emotional health into consideration to uncover underlying clues that may undermine your health. My practice is based on:
  • Education - Teaching (not lecturing) you about what is going on with your body, and ways to improve your health with proactive, positive choices that help you age more gracefully.
  • Choice - Examining options for your individual situation so you can decide what is best for you.
  • Empowerment - Encouraging you to take control over your own health.

I respect - and applaud - your desire to have more control over your body and healthcare decisions. I can help you understand the investment in long term wellness through hormone management. Let's get started!

PS. These services are intended to compliment those provided by your primary care provider. You are encouraged to maintain a relationship with that provider. If you do not have one, a referral list can be provided.
